01 / Filoiann Solomon Wiedenhoff Artist: Practice & Vision

Filoiann Solomon Wiedenhoff is an acrylic and digital artist based in San Diego, California, whose creative journey began with a deeply personal search for peace. Her paintings explore tranquil landscapes, ocean scenes and island-inspired imagery, reflecting the comfort she has found through art and her Christian faith.

For Wiedenhoff, becoming an artist was unexpected. Fourteen years ago, during a difficult period of emotional stress, she turned to prayer. She describes feeling called to explore art and writing, despite having no previous experience or confidence in her artistic abilities.

She bought a sketchpad, paints and canvases and began experimenting. What followed surprised her. Drawing and painting soon became a natural part of her life, offering relief and a new way to express herself.

02 / A Creative Journey Born from Faith

Before art became part of her daily life, Wiedenhoff had spent years serving others through women's ministry. She is now retired from that work, but her faith continues to shape the way she approaches creativity.

Her earliest experiences with painting were closely connected to emotional healing. Creating gave her a quiet space away from personal struggles. As she developed her own artistic style, the practice became more than an occasional activity. It became a source of comfort.

She remembers that beginning as an answer to prayer. Today, Filoiann Solomon Wiedenhoff works on her art full time, continuing a journey that began without formal expectations or a predetermined artistic career.

03 / Discovering Freedom Through Digital Art

After working with traditional painting materials, Wiedenhoff discovered digital art and gradually made it her primary medium. She appreciated the freedom it offered, particularly the ability to create without constantly purchasing supplies or preparing a physical painting space.

Digital art also brought greater flexibility into her practice. She could take her creative work wherever she went, making it easier to incorporate art into everyday life.

Although she continues to identify as both an acrylic and digital artist, digital creation now occupies most of her artistic time. The change in medium has not changed the purpose behind her work: finding peace through the act of creating.

04 / The Ocean, Island Heritage & Peace

The natural world plays an important role in Wiedenhoff's artistic imagination. Seascapes, moonscapes and island landscapes repeatedly appear in her creative practice, reflecting places and experiences that bring her a sense of calm.

Living in San Diego, she and her husband frequently visit the beach for rest and relaxation. The ocean has become a familiar source of inspiration, and its peaceful atmosphere carries into her digital paintings.

Her Pacific Islander heritage also informs her interest in island themes and cultural artwork. Through these subjects, she brings together personal identity, memories of nature and the emotional comfort she associates with familiar landscapes.

For Filoiann Solomon Wiedenhoff, art remains closely connected to her emotional and spiritual life. She describes the creative process as restful and peaceful, particularly when facing the difficulties of everyday life.

Painting allows her to step away from stressful circumstances and spend time with something that brings genuine joy. Her faith provides another source of strength, and the two have become inseparable parts of her creative experience.

She does not see art as a way of pretending that life's challenges do not exist. Instead, creating helps her face those experiences with greater calm and perseverance. This personal relationship with art is central to the meaning of her work.

06 / Sharing Art as a Gift to Others

Wiedenhoff's artistic philosophy extends beyond her own experience of healing. Having found comfort through creativity, she hopes her paintings can offer something similar to other people.

Inspired by her Christian beliefs about sharing the comfort one has received, she makes her artwork available through free downloads on her website. For her, the opportunity to bring someone a moment of happiness or peace matters more than keeping the work exclusively for herself.

Her favourite passage is John 3:16, reflecting the faith that has accompanied her throughout her creative journey. From her first sketchpad to her present digital practice, art has remained both a personal refuge and a way to encourage others.
